The best of both worlds, is a phrase we’ve heard all of our lives. But it’s a phrase that feels like it fits this article perfectly. I can only assume you are wondering why that is, so let me give it to you.
The Capital Grill has been an Arizona staple for the last 10 years, and once you’ve had the opportunity to enjoy it, you’ll understand why. Typically at Az Food & Wine, we look to simply share phoenominal dishes with our readers, and we found a few when we visited The Capital Grill. But we did find something else incredible we will share at the end of this article.
We started off with the Lobster Bisque. This bisque was beautifully prepared and elegantly delivered to our table where they poured a flavorful dry sack sherry when the bowl was placed in front of me. Most bisques i’ve enjoyed are a bit stingy on the lobster meat…well, this was not the case. This bowl was filled with lobster meat…nom nom nom!! The two dishes we had were the Grilles signature cheeseburger brought together with mouth watering chopped sirloin, chopped smoke bacon inside the burger and sweet onions. The burger was perfectly prepared with a little charring on the outside and a perfect tenderness on the inside. As we mentioned in our Facebook post, we think we found the perfect burger! The other dish was a steak that had a taste unlike any other steak we’ve consumed. This was a beautifully dry aged (21 days to be exact) sirloin steak. There wasn’t a bad (or overly fatty) part of this steak to be found. Chef took us on a tour of the kitchen to see the aging process and the fridge that housed them…it was very cool to see.
The cap to our dining experience was the flourless chocolate espresso cake and cheesecake with a caramelized brûlée topping all made in house with their pastry Chef. I thought for sure as a admitted chocoholic, the flowerless cake wouldn’t stand a chance of existing when the plate was picked up from the table. But, this cheesecake consumed my tastebuds and practically made me forget there was an incredible chocolate cake on the table as well.
The incredible thing we found was this, caring SERVICE. The service was unlike anything we’ve ever experienced. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Jill and her partner. Checked on at every point in the meal that made sense and made sure everything met up to our expectations. When you call for reservation, you’re asked if you are in for any special occasion, then they make sure that occasion is special for you and your guests. They truly care about their guest, to make sure they deliver a very memorable dining experience. The caring continued all the way to Jill opening the door for us on our way out.
The best of both worlds…incredible food and off the charts service! Wow Capital Grill…WOW!
