Whether you’re new to the world of whiskey or an expert in malts and drams, Second Story Liquor Bar has created a fun, creative, easy going atmosphere to learn about whiskey in all expressions. Each class will consist of history, a tasting session with food pairings, and a group discussion over different brands, styles, and expressions. All the classes will have an open curriculum so the students will decide where the journey will turn.
The first stop around the world is America. Join Second Story Liquor Bar on October 15th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for this month’s Whiskey Wednesday class, American Whiskey. Whiskey school will spend 2 hours tasting, talking, and getting the inside scoop on what makes quality American Whiskey. The class is directed by resident Whiskey Man, John Christie, and promises to be a great way to get to know American Whiskey on a first name basis in a very easy going environment. Cost is $40 and includes snacks, class, demonstrations on whiskey cocktails, and tasting.

He is a professional that will help you discover timeless cocktails executed at the highest of levels.
On November 19th, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. get ready for a trip to Ireland with Second Story Liquor Bar’s Whiskey Wednesday class, Erin Go Braugh. Get to know all of the information that an informed whiskey enthusiast would need to approach the glory of Irish whiskey. The history and basic criteria of whiskey from the green isle is where this class will start. The tasting and palate notes will be the next stop, along with some savory foods to help wet the palate. The class will finish with a group discussion of brands, styles and the future of Irish whiskey in the 21st century.
The final stop on this whiskey tour is Scotland. Mark your calendar for December 17th and join the Second Story Liquor Bar for the final Whiskey Wednesday class of the year, Across the Pond. From 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Second Story Liquor Bar peels away the mystery and confusion of the malts from Scotland with this class offering. Class will begin with a brief history about the process and styles of whiskey making in Scotland. From there you will begin to familiarize yourself with the basics of Scotch brands and distilling characteristics from all over the Scottish countryside. The food will help balance the varied and robust flavors of Scottish Malt. The class will finish with open discussions about brands, flavors and developing trends in Scotch making.
