Profile
It’s date night at Sphinx Date Co.! On Thursday, Oct. 10 from 5-7 p.m., guests are invited to stop in the Palm & Pantry and take their taste buds on a sampling tour courtesy of Sphinx Date Co. Sphinx will be serving up homegrown products by local artisan producers, including salad and huaraches prepared by Juntos, a worker-owner pop-up restaurant that offers Mexican-inspired dishes made from local, heirloom and sustainable ingredients. Wine samples from Arizona wineries and date-centric snacks and sweets from Arizona purveyors also will be provided.
In addition to great food, there will be plenty of fun and informative activities at Date Night, which is hosted in partnership with Slow Food Phoenix, a nonprofit that promotes local and indigenous food systems. Meet Rebecca Seitz, owner of Sphinx Date Co., who will offer a brief history of dates in Arizona. Purveyors from Juntos will share their original stories and local food philosophies. And Slow Food Phoenix will discuss Arizona foods, including Black Sphinx dates, that are on the Ark of Taste, an international catalog of endangered heritage foods.
Admission is free, and an RSVP is appreciated but not required. For more information or to reserve your spot, visit eventbrite.com/e/date-night-celebrating-dates-az-food-purveyors-tickets-1007809995827.
