“Color for a Cause” is the latest exhibit to be unveiled at The FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel, located at 1100 North Central Avenue. Debuting Friday, April 5 in conjunction with Downtown Phoenix Friday’s Art Walk and remaining on display through Tuesday, April 30, the exhibit features paintings and mixed media by local artist JoAnn Augur.
Augur, who has had dedicated shows at the hotel’s gallery previously, has added an element of charity to her latest exhibit. This was inspired by her gratitude for not only her art career but also the many opportunities she’s had to showcase her art.
FOUND:RE has featured multiple shows over the years that have a give back element to local non-profits, so hosting Augur’s Color for a Cause is a natural fit to the hotel’s mission. The name of the exhibit developed from the fact that most people recognize her art by its use of vibrant and bold colors throughout her landscapes, stills and abstract paintings.
Those that purchase art during the show can select from three local organizations to have their donation made or choose a charity near and dear to their own hearts. The Color for a Cause exhibit will showcase previously unseen works from Augur that she calls “a little bit of everything” that she has created over the past six months. Themes of color, nature, movement and architecture have inspired her latest exhibit as well. An artist’s reception will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5 during which Augur will be in attendance to meet and mingle with guests.
