FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel Announces CabronX3 Exhibit

The FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel, located at 1100 North Central Avenue, is gearing up for the 31st Annual Art Detour Weekend, which takes place Thursday, March 14 through Monday, March 18, with the installation of another new exhibit, CabronX3, a collection of three artists’ works.

Artists and friends Frank Ybarra, Gennaro Garcia and Joe Ray have been showcasing their works in this collaborated fashion as CabronX3 for nearly seven years. In addition to being friends, the cabrónes’ art has cohesive themes of bold colors, imagery and iconography that meld seamlessly for exhibits, such as the one set to unveil at the FOUND:RE on Friday, March 15, while also maintaining each artist’s individual style. The artists also share common Mexican and Mexican-American heritages that are incorporated into their works in very distinct styles.

“For this specific show, Gennaro is doing some ceramic pieces as well as a couple of wood sculptures and Frank has been really blowing out his colors, especially on the state landmark pieces. He does a fantastic job on these larger canvases, and I’ve been working on more color layering and creating road maps for spirits in the ether realms,” says Ray. “I think each of us gets incredibly inspired when our work comes together and it’s being seen in a reception setting. The humor — and the colors — comes jumping off the walls!”

On Friday, March 15, CarbonX3 will be unveiled during an opening reception at the FOUND:RE from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 pm. in conjunction with a kick-off to Art Detour. Ray, Ybarra and Garcia will be onsite to meet and mingle with guests throughout the evening, and on Saturday, March 16 the three artists will be doing live painting demonstrations at the hotel. The exhibit will remain on display through Tuesday, April 30.
