FOUND:RE Contemporary, the freestanding gallery on Portland Street adjacent to the FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel at 1100 N. Central Ave., announces the upcoming debut of “Less is More: A Minimalism Exhibition” featuring works by artists Lucas Knowles and Mary Meyer. The exhibition opens with an artists’ reception on Feb. 4 from 6 to 9 p.m.
“‘Less is More’ is about the uncomplicated beauty minimalism offers the eye and serves as an exploration of what is means for shapes and color to be stripped to its bare essentials in contemporary art,” says Audrey Galat, arts and culture curator for FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel and FOUND:RE Contemporary. “Contrary to the maximalist motto ‘more is more,’ minimalists argue that art expresses more when it cannot be simplified any further.
The exhibition will be on display in the FOUND:RE Contemporary Gallery through March 26 and can be viewed without an appointment by stopping at the FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel’s front desk Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Guests may RSVP to the opening reception via www.eventbrite.com/e/opening-less-is-more-a-minimalism-exhibition-tickets-234314028567.
