The Hance Park Conservancy, in partnership with the Phoenix Parks & Recreation Department, is excited to announce the seventh annual Noche en Blanco, an inclusive community dinner in celebration of Hance Park on Saturday, October 29, 2022, from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m., presented by Clayco. The event, produced by the Hance Park Conservancy, is a night of elegant and culturally diverse community fun where guests are invited to dress in white costume cocktail attire, enjoy live entertainment, and dine under the stars on the lush east lawn of Hance Park. Noche en Blanco is inspired by a similar “dinner in white” that started in Paris over 30 years ago and features long rows of tables draped in white linens with strings of sparkling lights overhead.
Honorary Chair, Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego, invites guests to enjoy the annual toast to the community, which will include a special recognition of former Phoenix Mayor Terry Goddard, and his tremendous leadership in the creation of the park. In regard to the preservation and development of Hance Park, Goddard says, “This remarkable patch of land was supposed to knit the Roosevelt neighborhood together after the I-10 split it asunder. That it did and more. With Burton Barr Central Library, Japanese Friendship Garden, Irish Cultural Center, Second Ward LDS Church (Great Arizona Puppet Theatre) and Cutler-Plotkin Jewish Heritage Center, and Phoenix Center for the Arts (toss in a Dog Park as a bonus), we have a cultural axis around which Phoenix spins. Parks are a blessing, and this one blesses all who live nearby certainly, but all who live in Phoenix and beyond as well. It is a work in progress, as we can see, and has many more blessings still in store.”
One hundred percent of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Hance Park Conservancy (“HPC”), a nonprofit organization dedicated to the sustainability and future of Hance Park. In addition to its efforts to foster strong community engagement in support of the park, HPC works in partnership with the City of Phoenix Parks & Recreation Department and Phoenix Community Alliance in a fundraising effort that will result in the realization of the Hance Park Master Plan, adopted by the City of Phoenix in 2014.
Entertainment for the evening is a multicultural music and dance performance showcase featuring the Phoenix Afrobeat Orchestra and will include special performances from partners representing the Hance Park Conservancy Board of Trustees, including the Japanese Friendship Garden, Irish Culture Center, Arizona School for the Arts, The Nash, and more.In the spirit of the origins of this community dinner, guests may bring their own picnics and non-alcoholic drinks, or they can pre-order gourmet picnic boxes and Garden Bar craft cocktail kits, crafted by Kim Haasarud, James Beard-honored mixologist & author, and owner of downtown Phoenix’s Garden Bar. Each picnic box serves 2, and includes a curated selection of cured meats, cheeses, fruit, crackers, and dessert (a vegetarian option is available). There will also be an impressive selection of wines presented by Quench Fine Wines, and craft beer by locally owned Greenwood Brewery. All pre-orders for gourmet picnic boxes and alcoholic beverages close Friday, October 14. Specialty craft cocktails, wine and beer will be available for purchase at the event. This event is 21+.
