The holiday season is upon us! If not for the lights, decorations and Christmas songs on loop in every store, those of us in Arizona might think we were gearing up for the first days of fall. With our temperate climate, I have yet to even break out my winter boots or jackets. With that being said, I’m not quite ready to trade in my rosé for pumpkin spice and hot chocolate.

Behold the “W-iki Tiki” cocktail program at the W!  The perfect transition from summer to those mild Arizona winters. Weekly drinks are concocted by David, the General Manager of the property and his Director of Banquets, Rudy.  This dynamic duo really flex their knowledge of spirits, utilizing unique flavor profiles to create one of a kind craft cocktails for their unsuspecting guests.  The weekly pop up has included riffs on classic tiki cocktails with names like Hopscotch Hula, House of the Rising Sun and Tiki Tea.

I had the good fortune of trying the Scorpion, which Rudy shared is his interpretation of the often over boozy Scorpion Bowl.   Instead, this version had layers of flavor and complexity with notes of honey, port and chocolate.
