The Scottsdale Culinary Festival has added a couple new events to their impressive line-up this year. One of the events was Barrel + Board, which took place on Thursday, February 25th at the Monorchid in Central Phoenix. The event was a sell out, allowing 300 guests to sample and enjoy 8 of the valleys top Craft Breweries pair their own brews with a creative cheese dish. A few of the pairings included:
OHSO Brewery+ Distillery pairing The Lost Viking Baltic Porter with Brisket Mac n Cheese.
OHSO also provided samples of their new #Gin and #Vodka, which are now available. Greg also provided a gin distillation demo, which was very interesting and looked like a science experiment.
Scottsdale Beer Company Bourbon Barrel Aged Texas Tea (They had me at Bourbon), Double Chocolate Imperial Stout was paired with House-Made Cajun Sausage with Peppers and Texas Tea Braised Onions on a soft roll, topped with their Beer Cheese.
Fate Brewing Company Impressed the crowd with South Orangedale Sour and Pueblo Vienna paired with Fon-Don’t Hot Herbed Ricotta Cheese Dip with Arugula Salad and Toasted Bread.
Santan Brewing Company paired their popular Bourbon Barrel Aged Sex Panther with Chipotle Bacon wrapped Dates stuffed with Blue Cheese.
The Perch Brewery never fails to impress and cleverly served up Cheesecake and Dark Chocolate Ice Cream paired with Whiskey Oak Aged Rule All Things Imperial Stout.
Additional craft beer was also provided by Angel’s Trumpet Ale House. Several Distilleries were also serving up whiskey samples, and Whole Foods served up a lavish variety of cheese. Several decadent desserts were also provided by Elizabeth’s Moments of Joy, making the night even sweeter.
Guests were also entertained with live music from the talented Tom Kumagai.
Misty Mchone from Whole Foods also educated the crowd with a couple “Cheesy” demos. Learning how to make Beer Cheese Dip and Stilton Soup.
