With six Valley locations, people may think that U.S. Egg is a corporate chain but the restaurants have been owned and operated by the Gebran family for almost 30 years. Oscar Gebran and his four sons are personally involved in all aspects of the business, ensuring the food and the customer experience are consistent at all of their restaurants.

The Gebran family hails from Lebanon. They came to Arizona when the oldest of four brothers went to Arizona State University. They loved the weather and the people so much that they stayed and all four brothers went to ASU.

The family bought the first U.S. Egg restaurant in Tempe in 1991. U.S. Egg has expanded to six locations across the Valley with nearly 200 employees. Oscar, who has experience as a chef and ran a successful restaurant in Iowa before moving to Arizona, manages the U.S. Egg enterprise. Mario, one of his sons, is the chef. The other sons run day-to-day business operations. “We love working together,” said Mario. “We live near each other and enjoy spending time together with our families whenever we can.”

Fresh ingredients, customer relationships and consistency are key to U.S. Egg’s success and longevity. One of the signature items on U.S. Egg’s menu is its protein pancake, a heartier version of a traditional pancake with homemade granola, almonds and blueberries. U.S. Egg’s skillets are also extremely popular. Layered with hash browns and topped with cheese and eggs, skillet options include veggie, meat lovers and a Santa Fe skillet with chorizo and green chile sauce. For those who want the best of both, they can order Half & Half which includes two smaller protein pancakes and a half skillet, ideal for sharing.

U.S. Egg restaurants are open daily for breakfast and lunch from 6:30am-2:30pm. Lunch options include burgers, sandwiches, chili and a variety of homemade soups with fresh ingredients. Varieties range from traditional such as chicken noodle and vegetable beef to more exotic international soups like Cuban black bean.

U.S. Egg has updated its menu to meet the needs of its customers. On the suggestion of a customer, Mario created an extensive gluten-free menu featuring Eggs Benedict, French toast and waffles, as well as burgers, salads and sandwiches. The restaurant also has a Proteins and Greens menu designed for Keto and Paleo diets. These special menus have been very well received by customers. “We’ve had many of the same customers for years and we really value their feedback,” said Mario.

U.S. Egg is also involved in the community, supporting local veterans and foster children. Mario feels blessed to do what he loves and work closely with his family. “This country and this community have been very good to us,” he said. “We love serving our customers and the community.”
