Crab & Mermaid Fish Shop, which is one of the valleys most anticipated new restaurants opened this past week on March, 24th. The restaurant is a part of Square One Concepts, the company behind other hot spots in Old Town Scottsdale, including Cold Beer and Cheeseburgers, Wasted Grain and the soon to open Bourbon & Bones. The conceptual designs and diverse cuisines are revitalizing the look and feel of Old Town Scottsdale.

We had the chance to preview Crab & Mermaid before it opened to the public. The décor has a bright and inviting nautical theme, that’s open and airy allowing guests to watch oysters being shucked at the Oyster Bar and Mixologists serving up an extensive list of cocktails. The beautiful weather can also be enjoyed on the expansive patio.

Chef Isaac Carter, who’s impressive background includes working with Celebrity Chef Todd English in several other successful restaurants around the nation, shared some of his passion and vision with us. He is excited to deliver a place where the feel is casual and affordable, while creating a memorable dining experience by providing the freshest seafood possible. Crab and Mermaid is serving up dishes from seafood and fish found from coast to coast, which provides an extensive menu. Some of the dishes on the original menu include; Lobster Rolls, Baja-style tacos, clam chowder, fresh oysters. There’s something on the menu for just about anyone, so nobody should leave feeling crabby.

Richie Moe, a local and well-known favorite Mixologist, is in charge of the cocktail menu and is serving up many innovative craft cocktails, a couple of our favorites included the Tsunami Sake-tini and Layered Sangria. There are several more we’d like to go back and try. Perhaps after a long day, instead of feeling tense and frustrated and telling someone to shuck off, you can stop by for a drink and relax.
