Five years ago, I wrote my first article about one of the best Easter treats that are abundant during the Easter season. At that time, I couldn’t find anything on the internet about it. I am a firm believer that this is a dish I invented! This treat has practically become the unofficial candy of Easter and has been around for over 50 years.
After Easter, many years ago, I was looking in my pantry for a sweet treat. My eye caught a shelf full (literally a full shelf) of Peeps (thanks to mom who I think buys the store out every year). I thought to myself, I bet these little bunnies would be really delicious roasted. The sugar coating would make for a great caramelization of the marshmallow, so I grabbed the kids, went out to the fire pit and we gave it a whirl! After a little hesitation, because they really are damn cute treats, we all agreed Dad was right!! We couldn’t get enough of the charred little bunny treats.
Once you get past the fact you’re taking these cute little bunnies to a roasting (not nearly as rough as the Bieber roast), you will be very happy you did!
So, give it a try this year, even try creating a smores with them…mmmmmmm!
